Catalog items and categories
The products and services you sell, where their prices live, and how categories work.
All help topics
Catalog & Pricing → Catalog lists everything you sell. Each item has a name, an optional SKU, a type (service or product), a category, a unit and a cost. These are the items you pick when you add line items to a quote, job or invoice.
Prices
Selling prices are set per price list, not on the item itself. The Price column on the catalog list shows the item's price on your default price list; a dash means the item has no price there yet. Open Price Lists to set or change prices. Cost is what the item costs you.
SKU
The SKU is an optional internal code you can search by. Two items may share a SKU. If you type a SKU another item already uses, a note under the field names that item, so you can check before saving. Saving still works.
Categories
Settings → Catalog holds the categories that group your items and order them on price lists. Each category shows how many items use it. If you delete a category that still has items, the confirmation tells you how many. The items are kept and move to Uncategorized, and you can give them a new category from each item's page.
Quantities
Quantities on line items are whole numbers. If you type a fraction, the field shows "Whole numbers only" and the line total stays blank until you correct it. If you leave the field, it goes back to the last whole number and says which one it kept.
