Social accounts — connecting Facebook pages and Instagram
Connect one or more Facebook pages and their Instagram business accounts so you can publish posts from DoneWell.
All help topics
Your connected pages live on Marketing → Social, on the Accounts tab. Connecting needs the settings permission; everyone with access to Social can see which accounts are connected.
Connect pages
- Press Connect Facebook & Instagram. Facebook opens and asks you to sign in and choose what DoneWell may do.
- Allow everything Facebook asks for. DoneWell needs to see your pages, read and create posts on them, and publish to the Instagram accounts linked to them.
- Back in DoneWell, tick the pages you want and press Connect selected. Only the pages you tick are connected; each page's linked Instagram business account is connected with it.
You can connect several pages — for example one per brand or location — up to your plan's limit. A Facebook page and its Instagram account each count as one account. Connecting a page you already connected again simply refreshes it.
If something is missing
- Permissions missing — if you skipped a permission or closed the Facebook window, DoneWell lists what is missing and nothing is connected. Press Grant again and allow the listed items.
- No Instagram business account — the page is connected, but Instagram is not. Switch the Instagram account to a professional (Business or Creator) account, link it to the Facebook page in Facebook's settings, then connect again.
- Connected to another DoneWell account — a page can belong to only one DoneWell company. It cannot be selected until it is disconnected there.
- Plan limit — if the selection would go over your plan's number of social accounts, nothing is saved. Pick fewer pages or upgrade your plan.
- Sign-in expired — the page list from Facebook is kept for 15 minutes. Press Connect Facebook & Instagram again.
Account status and disconnecting
Each account shows who connected it and when, and its status:
- Active — DoneWell can publish to it.
- Needs reconnect — Facebook no longer accepts DoneWell's access (for example, the password changed). Press Connect Facebook & Instagram and select the page again.
- Disconnected — DoneWell no longer publishes to it and has forgotten its access. Connect the page again to use it.
To stop publishing to an account, press Disconnect next to it. The confirmation tells you how many scheduled posts will be cancelled for that account; posts going to other accounts still go out there. Disconnecting a Facebook page does not disconnect the Instagram account linked to it — disconnect that one separately.
If you remove DoneWell from your Facebook settings, or ask Facebook to delete your data, every account you connected is disconnected automatically.
Publishing and scheduling posts
Open a post on the Posts tab (or press New post), write the caption and tick the accounts it should go to. The draft saves itself as you type.
- Publish now sends the post to every ticked account right away. The post page then shows a Publishing status card with one line per account: Pending while it is on its way, then Published with a View post link, or Failed with the reason the platform gave. The page updates by itself while publishing is in progress.
- Schedule asks for a date and time. They are read in your company's time zone (shown under the fields), and the post goes out at that moment. Pick a time at least 5 minutes and at most 90 days from now.
Before a post goes out, DoneWell checks it against each platform's rules — for example, Instagram posts need at least one photo. If something blocks an account, the post is not sent and you see what to fix.
Changing or cancelling a scheduled post
A scheduled post shows Scheduled for with its date and time. Until then you can change the caption, the accounts and the time, and press Save changes — scheduled posts do not save automatically, so nothing changes until you press it. A post that is due within minutes can still be corrected; a new time must again be 5 minutes to 90 days away.
To call a post off, press Cancel post and confirm. Nothing is published, and the post stays in the list as Cancelled. Cancelling needs permission to edit posts.
Once publishing has started, the post can no longer be changed — the page says Publishing in progress.
