DoneWell

Exporting your data

Take a full copy of your company's data as a zip of spreadsheet files.

Settings → Data lets you download everything DoneWell holds about your company — clients, properties, requests, quotes, jobs, visits, invoices, payments and your catalog — as one zip file.

Export company data

  1. Open Settings → Data and click Export company data.
  2. DoneWell builds the archive in the background. For most companies this takes under a minute; a very large history can take a few.
  3. You get an email with a download link. The same archive also appears under Recent exports on the page, so you do not need the email.

Each export is a zip of CSV files — one file per kind of record (customers.csv, invoices.csv, visits.csv and so on) plus a short README.txt. The files open in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets, and are in UTF-8 so accented names come through intact.

Who can download it

Only members of your company who can manage settings can start an export or open a download link. A forwarded link opens nothing for anyone else, and someone who is signed out is asked to sign in first.

Archives stay available for 7 days and are then deleted automatically. Run a new export whenever you need a fresh copy.

What is and is not included

  • Included: every record listed above, with the links between them (which client a job belongs to, which invoice a payment paid).
  • Not included: photos and file attachments, PDF copies of documents, passwords, and pay rates. Team members are listed by name, email and role only.

Spreadsheet safety

If a name or note happens to start with =, +, - or @, the export writes it with a leading apostrophe so a spreadsheet shows it as text instead of trying to calculate it. Plain negative numbers are left as numbers.
